Campfire Turkey
Campfire turkey
This hunting season, why not cook one of the turkeys on your campfire? After you clean and dress your turkey, par-boil with spices tied in a cheese bag for about 30 minutes. Pour off the water. Rub your turkey with corn oil. Place a cored apple on the inside. Pour a can of coke into a Dutch oven with lid. Place your turkey in the Dutch oven and cook over medium heat (350°) for 4-6 hours depending upon the weight. Use a meat thermometer to check the doneness of the meat. When cooked, serve with corn bread dressing and fruit salad and your favorite beverage.
Remember while hunting:
Observe safety rules
Use good sportsman's conduct
Thank God for the bounty of His earth
Happy campfire cooking from our family to yours!!!!
